COMMERCIAL DAMP-PROOFING | NORTHERN KENTUCKY + GREATER CINCINNATI

Commercial Dampproofing Contractor in Northern Kentucky & Greater Cincinnati

Below-grade protection is easiest to get right before backfill makes the work invisible.

PSI is a commercial dampproofing contractor serving Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati. We install specified treatments on below-grade concrete and masonry foundation walls where the design does not require resistance to water pressure. Before backfill, send your plans, project location and schedule for bid review.

BEFORE BACKFILL

Access Closes Long Before Moisture Exposure Does

After backfill covers the foundation, crews have less access to inspect surfaces, edges and connections. As a result, correcting a missed detail can disrupt the next phase.

Early scope review keeps those decisions visible while the walls remain accessible. In turn, the project team can plan the work before other trades cover it.

What Gets Harder After Backfill
  • Inspecting and preparing foundation surfaces
  • Confirming limits, terminations and transitions
  • Coordinating adjacent protection, drainage and backfill scopes
  • Correcting missed details without reopening completed work

COMMERCIAL DAMPPROOFING SCOPE

Commercial Dampproofing for Below-Grade Walls

Dampproofing limits moisture from surrounding soil. However, it does not replace waterproofing where water pressure may act against the foundation. In addition, project documents, groundwater conditions and drainage guide the required system.

01

Below-Grade Walls

Apply the specified treatment to exterior foundation walls before protection and backfill.

02

Concrete & Masonry

Match the work to the approved surface and product requirements. For example, concrete and masonry may need different preparation.

03

New Construction

Plan installation while below-grade areas remain open. Then coordinate the next trade’s access.

04

Defined Project Scope

Follow the plans, specifications and addenda. Also confirm the coverage limits before work starts.

THREE DECISIONS BEFORE INSTALLATION

Keep the Dampproofing Scope Clear From Detail to Backfill

Dampproofing works within the wider foundation assembly. In other words, clear drawings help each trade understand where its work starts and ends.

01

Verify the Requirement

First, confirm whether each location calls for dampproofing or waterproofing.

02

Confirm Conditions

Next, share surface conditions, preparation needs, access and the expected schedule.

03

Coordinate Coverage

Finally, identify edges, openings, connections, protection, drainage and backfill responsibilities.

COMMON COMMERCIAL QUESTIONS

Commercial Dampproofing FAQs

These answers explain the scope. However, the project documents and actual site conditions determine the required system.

What’s the difference between waterproofing and dampproofing?

Dampproofing limits soil moisture. By contrast, specified waterproofing can resist water pressure. Site conditions and the designer guide the choice.

What does “dampproofing” mean?

It limits soil moisture through below-grade concrete or masonry walls. In other words, it cannot resist groundwater pressure.

How many years does damp proofing last?

No single lifespan applies. For example, preparation, thickness, drainage, soil, movement and damage affect performance. Therefore, check the product’s technical data and written warranty.

What is damp-proof coating?

A liquid treatment for prepared concrete or masonry; for example, many use asphalt. However, it cannot replace required waterproofing against water pressure.

When should commercial dampproofing be scheduled?

Schedule before protection, drainage or backfill covers walls. Then follow the approved product’s drying and protection requirements.

Where does PSI perform commercial dampproofing?

PSI serves Northern Kentucky, Greater Cincinnati and nearby Indiana from Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. We also consider qualified commercial projects within approximately 250 miles. Include your city.

What if the system has not been selected?

Send drawings, location, site conditions and scope questions. Also use project documents and manufacturer guidance for system selection.

Can I include related building-envelope work?

Yes. However, list each scope separately. PSI also performs commercial caulking and joint sealants, expansion joints and air barriers. PSI does not perform glazing.
