COMMERCIAL CONCRETE FLOORS

Commercial Epoxy Coating

Northern Kentucky · Greater Cincinnati · Nearby Indiana

Plan the floor around the work it has to handle.

Professional Sealants, Inc. provides commercial epoxy coating for suitable concrete floors. Before pricing, share your project requirements with PSI to define the coating scope, surface preparation and installation timing.

DEFINE THE SCOPE

A floor system starts below the finish.

01

Concrete condition

Before work starts, check for old coatings, oil, cracks and moisture.

02

Daily use

Also, traffic, cleaning products, chemical exposure and floor texture help determine the right coating.

03

Access & curing

Then coordinate installation with other trades.

PREPARATION COMES FIRST

A fresh finish cannot fix damaged or poorly prepared concrete.

A coating depends on its bond to the concrete. For example, oil, excess moisture or movement can weaken that bond. Define those conditions before the coating scope and schedule are set.

For an occupied facility, plan the work while access and shutdown timing can still be coordinated.

Where the service fits

The coating must suit the space, so confirm how the floor will be used.

Warehouses & industrial spaces

For example, evaluate the coating against wheeled traffic.

Commercial support areas

Also match the finish to cleaning needs, foot traffic and the use of maintenance or service spaces.

New construction & renovations

Before installation, coordinate existing-floor preparation, joint details and coating installation with adjacent work.

FOR ESTIMATORS & PROJECT MANAGERS

Define the floor before choosing the finish.

Resolve the material, access and sequencing requirements before work begins.

01

Review the concrete

Before choosing the coating, identify the concrete condition, existing treatments and moisture requirements for the proposed system.

02

Set preparation & repair details

Then define cleaning, surface preparation, mechanical preparation and the treatment of cracks and joints in the project scope.

03

Coordinate the coating system

Also, confirm the specified materials, finish, coverage requirements and installation sequence.

04

Plan the return to service

Because curing depends on the product and site conditions, confirm when people and equipment can return.

THE RIGHT SCOPE MATTERS

Coating and joint filling serve different purposes.

Epoxy coating covers a floor surface. By comparison, joint filling addresses individual joints, often to support their edges under traffic. Therefore, a coating does not replace required joint treatment, and movement joints need an appropriate movement detail.

BEFORE YOU REQUEST A BID

Epoxy coating questions

Is epoxy coating the same as epoxy joint filling?

No. Coating treats the floor surface; joint filling treats individual joints. If your project needs both, identify each scope in the bid request.

Can every existing concrete floor be coated?

Suitability depends on concrete condition, contamination, moisture and the proposed coating. Existing coatings may require removal or compatibility review before a new system is selected.

Will the coating resist chemicals or improve traction?

However, these properties depend on the coating and finish. For example, list the actual chemicals, cleaning procedures and traction needs in the project requirements. No coating should be assumed slip-proof.

What affects pricing and downtime?

Floor area, preparation, repairs and coating requirements affect the bid. Also, include access limits and work that must happen in stages. Cure times depend on the product and site conditions; provide your planned reopening date for review.
